About the Creators

The writer shows herself as she sees herself: mysterious, emo, and…kinda gay?

A latina swamp witch that sprouted right up through the sidewalk cracks in New Orleans. I have a degree in Digital Filmmaking and I also won ‘Best Hair’ in high school and maybe even the film fest at my college. I love color and composition and would consider myself an aesthetic scientist of sorts. I’m the filmmaker. Being extremely visually minded and a lil dyslexic means that sometimes i not write good. Grace and I collaborate on many things. Most of the time this process looks like me pacing around not really making eye contact, constantly asking “Does that make sense?”, and frantically trying to cobble together a way to describe what I see so clearly in my head. Grace is almost always patiently writing down what I say on a big yellow legal pad, echoing back “Yeah no, I get it,” and streamlining my words into something with structure. With our blog, we aim to share opinions, thoughts, critical analysis, art, and more by many different people. We also hope to learn and grow through this process, expanding our own artwork and our own opinions as we go.

To ask a filmmaker their favorite movie is considered a cardinal sin. However, there are several movies and tv shows that fundamentally changed the way I thought about the world and/or how I relate to it… or were just what I considered to be really well done. The following list is just a few of those (that I can remember right now).

  • Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
  • “Twin Peaks”
  • The Fountain
  • Bladerunner & Bladerunner 2049
  • “Adventure Time”
  • Any movie by Alejandro Iñárritu
  • Amalie
  • The Shining
  • The Red Shoes
  • Akira
  • Any movie by Hayao Miyazaki
  • “True Detective” (Season 3)
  • Roma
  • Breakfast at Tiffany’s
  • “Mad Men”
  • Many many more…
The writer in her natural habitat: a bathroom with acceptable lighting.

A turbo nerd with a penchant for the macabre and strange, that’s me. I have a Bachelors in English lit with a minor in Theatre and a -mini- minor in Cinema Studies. I’m the writer. I take Nia’s strange imaginings and turn them into a story. Her story is already there sometimes it just takes another mind to pull it together. We have collaborated on so much art together, told so many stories, and now work together to create a multi-media platform; wherein we write our stories, thoughts, and ideas centered around film and television. We have so much to offer, so many thoughts and ideas to share, and we hope to share them and learn more as we go.

Some of my favorite films and tv shows, plays, and novels, serve as writing inspiration; as well as inform my personal style. This is in no way a definitive list, this is more of a primer, I hope we have some favorites in common!
